The Australian government has announced the escalation of it’s freshwater importation program after another year of decreased rainfall on Australia’s mainland. The prime minister has agreed to fund a further 70 positions on the Water Security Team to fast track rebuilding the Fresh Water Collection Sites across the Philippines which were decimated late last year, once again due to landslides from the most severe monsoon season on record.

The program leader says federal assistance for this rebuilding effort is welcome, but that they are still at a shortage of people both in Australia and Philippines with the appropriate skills and training to deal with the Fresh Water Collection processes and infrastructure.
